Iowa Trenchless: Big Projects from Small-Town Roots

Founded by Jason and Shari Clark in 2002 and based in Panora since 2004, Iowa Trenchless has grown into a nationwide leader in boring and tunneling. Jason, an Iowa native, began working in the industry while attending Iowa State University, where he met Shari. After several years working across the country, they returned to Iowa to start their own company—initially with just a few employees and minimal equipment.

Today, Iowa Trenchless operates from a large facility in Panora’s business park, employing more than 40 people and running five field crews year-round. The company handles underground utility installations nationwide, specializing in guided auger boring, microtunneling, pipe ramming, and large-scale projects like railroad and pedestrian tunnels.

Despite its growth, the Clarks emphasize community and family. They provide strong pay and benefits, hire locally, and stay active in Panora’s schools and sports. “We’ve never had anyone finish a job for us,” Jason says. “We take pride in our people and in getting things done right.”
